This 7.75 acre riverside site has detailed planning permission for 661 apartments and approximately 108,000 sq.ft. (GIA) of retail and leisure amenity, and improvements to the River Wandle.

A number of buildings on the existing brewery site will be demolished to make way for the development. Some buildings will also be retained to form a museum.

Phase 1 comprises a series of low and medium rise buildings with a basement below the majority of the buildings. The river Wardle runs along the western boundary.

The river wall is to be replaced as part of the works.

Meinhardt’s role included:

  • Development of value engineered basement extent
  • Logistics strategy and construction sequence
  • Value engineering of construction adjacent to the River Wandle
  • Integration of precast design options for the superstructure
