Our responsibility
As engineers, we shape the places where people live, work and spend their time. We believe that responsibility doesn’t stop at the edge of a project. It extends to the communities we work in, the environment we all share, and the people who make Meinhardt UK what it is. Our approach to corporate social responsibility is built on three commitments: giving back to our communities, reducing our impact on the planet, and creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. These aren’t separate initiatives. They’re part of how we run our business every day, from our offices in London, Cambridge and Dublin.
Giving back to our communities
Our flagship event is the Meinhardt Annual Charity Touch Rugby Tournament, now in its ninth year. Each September it brings colleagues, clients and teams from across the construction and property industry together for a day of friendly competition. Our mixed Barbarians teams pair Meinhardt players with guests from other firms, so it’s as much about building connections as winning matches. For the past five years, the tournament has supported Centrepoint, the UK’s leading charity for young people facing homelessness. In that time we’ve raised more than £48,500 for the charity.
Our support for Centrepoint goes beyond the rugby pitch. Colleagues across our UK and Ireland offices have taken part in our Mayrathon, a month-long fundraising challenge for the charity. Our London team has also rolled up its sleeves with Groundwork, building raised planters and helping design a community garden at Rich Mix in Shoreditch.

We compete every year in the Construction Industry Dragon Boat Race in aid of CRASH, the construction industry’s own charity. We also back colleagues who take on personal challenges for causes close to their hearts, such as the London Landmarks Half Marathon in aid of the mental health charity Mind. We also support the Movember Foundation, helping raise awareness and funds for men’s health.
Protecting the planet
Our biggest environmental impact is through the buildings and infrastructure we help create. That’s why we treat sustainability as a design driver from the first brief, helping clients reduce carbon, improve performance and build resilience into their assets for the long term.
In 2026 we joined the UK Green Building Council, formalising our long-standing commitment to a sustainable, resilient and inclusive built environment. The Business Unit Director of our ESG and Sustainability Division also sits on the CRREM Foundation’s Regional Advisory Board for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. There, she helps guide the real estate industry towards science-based decarbonisation pathways.
We practice what we advise. When we moved our London head office to One London Wall in 2026, we applied circular economy principles to the move, reusing and reducing materials wherever we could. We also share what we learn, speaking at industry events on circularity, sustainable materials and climate action, and contributing to the wider conversation on how the built environment reaches net zero.
Supporting our people
We want everyone at Meinhardt UK to feel supported, valued and able to do their best work. Every colleague has access to a comprehensive BUPA healthcare scheme. We also have trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business and make time for simple things that matter, like lunchtime walks during Stress Awareness Month. Our new run club is the latest way colleagues are getting active together, whatever their pace.

We’re proud of our diverse team, drawn from many backgrounds, cultures and nationalities, and we celebrate the moments that matter to them. We mark International Women’s Day each year. Our International Women in Engineering Day series shared the stories of women across our teams, showing that there’s no single route into engineering. Our people also contribute to industry conversations on inclusion, including a panel on neurodiversity in the workplace at Clerkenwell Design Week.

Inspiring the next generation
We’re committed to developing the engineers of the future. Each year we welcome graduates and interns from universities in the UK, Ireland and beyond. They work alongside our engineers on live projects across all our teams. We support our people through industry-accredited training towards chartered status, and we encourage young people to explore engineering through STEM outreach.
Looking ahead
As Meinhardt UK grows, so does our commitment to making a positive difference. We’ll keep investing in our communities, our planet and our people, because we believe that’s what responsible engineering looks like.
