The Mall of Kuwait development (the largest project of its type in the country) will comprise a mixed-use retail and entertainment centre covering nearly 600,000 sq.m. with the following functional areas:

• 220 Retail outlets plus 3 departmental stores and a hypermarket
• 750 seat Performance Hall
• Cinemas
• Bowling alley
• Family entertainment area
• Multi-storey car park

An international engineering team was assembled in Kuwait from our UK and Philippines offices to work with the architect Woods-Bagot and other design team members under the aegis of the client’s agent BAjv, a joint venture between French contractor Bouygues and Kuwait’s largest main contractor, Ahmadiah. In the short period of time in which they worked together, the Meinhardt team impressed both client and agent to the extent that that the offer proposals to undertake both Fire Strategy and Facade Engineering were added to Meinhardt’s design brief. The detailed design is currently complete awaiting instruction to proceed.
