The Marine Wharf development comprises eleven residential blocks along with cultural and retail spaces. Based around a number of communal areas and under cover secure car parks, the development boasts an array of private and affordable homes along with dedicated care homes. The site is based in Lewisham, just across the Thames from the Isle of Dogs and less than three miles south west of Canary Wharf.
The planning application includes 4,126 sq.m. of commercial floor space, 532 residential units, and 1,796 square meters of Extra Care Home apartments.
Interesting Engineering challenges includes the preparation of a cut and fill analysis to determine a final site level preventing the removal of ground waste being required.
Meinhardt also provided advice on a phased building solution providing permanent and uninterrupted power and services to blocks built before the site wide plant rooms were constructed.
