Urban Farm

Location: Birmingham

Country: United Kingdom

Client: Slow Food Birmingham

Architect: Urban Design Hub

Services Provided: Transport Planning, Structures, MEP and Civil Engineering

Situated in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the vision is to transform three levels of a multi-storey car park into an urban rooftop farm and community garden.

The project is designed to directly contribute to the ‘Our Future City Plan’ objectives by improving and reducing the city’s carbon footprint whilst delivering quality food to Birmingham’s hospitality industry and local residents.

It is expected that the scheme will contribute to the sustainability objective and allow the Birmingham City Council to ascertain whether locally grown food can find its route to the local market, test growing methods and limitations of growing produce in the city, test pricing and map any potential gaps in delivery logistics, primarily focusing on the last mile within the city centre.
