Warwick Building
This project involved the refurbishment of a 1890s 5 storey office building in Kensington, London. It included an upgrade of the five existing and operational office floors as well as providing new paths of access and egress for the two new residential levels.
The project required an in depth assessment of the existing brick and steel framed building fabric whilst providing a comprehensive structural engineering service for the design of the new build and refurbishment elements. In addition to this, the design required the implementation of an intricate system of transfer structures to create a transition between the juxtaposing geometry of the asymmetric existing building and the clean lines of the new arched building envelope. The new structure design is lightweight yet robust so as to minimize the burden of additional weight imposed on the existing building.
