Charity rugby tournament raises thousands of pounds for homeless young people

Generous property professionals have raised more than £7,600 for homeless young people at Meinhardt (UK) fifth annual touch rugby tournament.
Ten teams from the property and construction sectors participated in the event at The Honourable Artillery Company in London – the first time the fundraiser has been held since the pandemic.
The winners were:
Winners of the tournament (Cup winners): Willmott Dixon Interiors
Runners up (Plate winners): Galliard Homes
Sportsmanship Award: Assael Architecture
Best Female Player Award: Lucille Woodworth of Sir Robert McAlpine
Best Male Player Award: Jackson Johnston of Quartz
Champagne Moment: Roisin Kelly of Galliard Homes
Wooden Spoon: Wates
The mixed touch rugby competition included afternoon tea, drinks and prize giving and featured players from Quartz Project Services, Neat Developments, Willmott Dixon Interiors, Galliard Homes, Hill Partnerships, Wates Group, Assael Architecture, RSHP, Gillespies and Sir Robert McAlpine.
Event sponsors included Conrad Consulting, Weston Homes, RG Group, YGHP and Pure Sports Medicine, who helped to secure pitch hire and trophies.
All funds raised will be donated to Centrepoint, a charity providing accommodation and support to more than 14,000 16–25-year-olds each year.
Nathaniel Gregory from Meinhardt (UK) Ltd, said: “We’re hugely grateful to all of the participants and sponsors of this year’s event. It was a real privilege to be back at The Honourable Artillery Company and to see so many property professionals taking part, regardless of experience or ability.
“We have chosen to lend our support to Centrepoint, who do an amazing job in providing safe, warm, and stable places for young people to live. The charity also does much to help people tackle physical and mental health issues and develop independent living skills. We hope that the funds raised through the event will go some way to providing young people with access to education, employment, and training opportunities.”
