Electrical Design Manager - Buildings Business Unit

As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join our London-based Buildings Business Unit, with opportunities to support and lead on international projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Role
The Electrical Design Manager will lead the electrical engineering discipline across a diverse portfolio of building projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of technically sound, commercially viable, and environmentally responsible electrical designs. You will work closely with project stakeholders across Meinhardt’s global network, managing internal teams and contributing to the development of high-quality, innovative solutions across sectors including commercial, residential, mixed-use, education, and healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead the delivery of electrical design packages from concept to construction across UK and international projects.
- Ensure designs are fully coordinated with other disciplines and comply with relevant codes, standards, and sustainability targets.
- Oversee the preparation of technical documentation including schematics, drawings, specifications, load calculations, and schedules.
- Promote the use of digital engineering and BIM (Revit, Navisworks) within the design process.
Team and Resource Management
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation and technical quality across multiple projects.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team culture.
Project Delivery
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope and deliverables.
- Ensure technical excellence and quality assurance in all design outputs.
- Provide technical support throughout design development, tendering, construction, and commissioning.
- Contribute to project planning, cost control, feasibility and risk management strategies.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key point of contact for electrical design within project teams.
- Represent Meinhardt in client meetings, workshops, and site visits.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical presentations and reports.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
Innovation and Sustainability
- Champion low-carbon and energy-efficient design principles in all projects.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, smart technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Support the ongoing development of Meinhardt’s design standards, tools, and templates.
- Contribute to R&D, knowledge sharing, and technical innovation initiatives within the company.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (MEng/BEng).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership (IET preferred).
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in electrical design within the built environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing design teams and delivering complex building projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK and international building codes, standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in relevant software tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, Amtech, and MS Office.
- Experience working on international projects and with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as project needs require.
